Coach glad he did not redshirt freshman

Sam Houston State coach Bob Marlin was prepared to redshirt freshman center Aaron Thompson this season before he was overruled.
“All of our seniors didn’t want him to redshirt,” Marlin said. “They wanted him to play. He had really good workouts in practice.”
Marlin hasn’t regretted his decision. Thompson, a former high school star at Burkburnett, has provided some quality minutes off the bench as the Bearkats have sailed through the first half of their Southland Conference schedule.
